Hi Guys,
I've read many of the posts and I have some concerns. Even though I'm an egyptian by birth, male, 24, and most of my life I have been raised in Australia. I sympathise with many of the females that have fallen victim to such crooks. I'm so sorry, it really shames me to see my country men doing such things.
I've been to egypt a few times, and I've noticed many problems in Egyptian society. I feel the economic situation, unemployment, difficulty to get married etc is making make men do such things. Not that it should be a justification. But I can see underlying reasons behind this.
I have come across more successful cross cultural marriages then failed or cheated ones. I have met Egyptian men who have married from as far as Peurto Rico. But I know this might sound a bit crude of me, but it is not a smart idea to go for men who have a low socio-economic background, as they have nothing to lose. Offcourse you'll have the good ones and all, but one has to be careful.
Another thing to all the females, please stop holding Egyptian men to a higher standard, and snap out of the awe of mighty Egypt. These guys are not pharaohs, and are normal human beings like any other. I know the egyptian factor works well, as the mere mention of Egyptian on my campus here in OZ just sends some women into a sort of frenzy. I even got one last week telling me she believes she was an Egyptian in a past lifetime.
It saddens me that Egyptian society has become as stagnant as the economy. I feel serious economic reformation can defuse some of the mishappenings that is occuring.
I look at some of the photos of these guys, and I wonder "What are the women thinking?", all I see is ego plastered over their faces. I don't know if I could even have coffee with such guys.
But on a whole, it would unfair to smear all egyptian men, even most of them. Some of them back out of cross-cultural relationships because of a genuine feeling that it wont work out. If they steal money from their women, then that is a different story altogether. But some egyptian guys I come across have a romanticised view of the world, and how it should be. They at times dont know how to balance their ideals with a reality check. And at times, girls can get hurt. It comes under cultural misunderstanding. They should ban bollywood films in Egypt
I suggest the members of this forum try to reconsider some of their unfair views. The whole issue of cheating is a worldwide epidemic, it is in no case an Egyptian phenomenon. In any case, it must be a problem if someone can start a forum on it. However, we need to put things in perspective, as the moment we label all egyptian men as cheaters, it will be easier for cheaters from other nationalities to weave their way through and hurt more girls, if not the same ones. And at the end of the day, common sense will be the best guide.
